This 11-unit duplex multi-family apartment building in the Adams Morgan district is organized around a courtyard of its own accessed through a covered walkway. An angled wall slices through the building from street face to internal courtyard and becomes the foundation on which the steel, aluminum and glass floored balconies above rest. Projecting bay windows and a glass-enclosed steel stairway create a variety of forms and textures and animate this internalized private space.
