The Spring Valley Shopping Center is a historic landmark that fronts Massachusetts Avenue in Northwest Washington, DC. The original retail development was built between 1939 and 1950, clustered to form a commercial village-like environment in a Williamsburg-inspired Colonial Revival style. A new two-story, 15,000 sq. ft. commercial building infills part of an existing parking lot, connecting to Capital One Bank, and forming a pedestrian friendly paseo adjacent the Crate & Barrel store that accommodates outdoor restaurant seating.

The building is a sympathetic brick soldier that completes the street wall, and connects the disparate pieces of retail facades with brick cast stone trim, and divided light windows. The second floor offers an additional 7,500 square feet of office space.
