Located in the historic Nauck neighborhood, the Macedonian apartments support the redevelopment of an emerging neighborhood along a busy road that is transforming into a pedestrian-friendly main street. The five-story building offers 36 affordable units and an underground parking garage. On the ground level, a church-affiliated neighborhood business incubator and community room activate the street. The detailed facade, mostly constructed of brick and concrete masonry, is composed of planes at different depths to accentuate various building elements. Sustainable design features include a high-performance building envelope, accessible green roof, energy-efficient VRV HVAC system and low-flow plumbing fixtures. The Macedonian is the first new multifamily housing development in Arlington to achieve EarthCraft certification.
