One Hawaii NW is a new-construction, 100% affordable residential development that replaces an old 2-story building that more than doubles the existing affordable homes and demonstrates an integrated approach to urban housing, sustainability, and community wellbeing. The project creates a pedestrian-friendly streetscape that strengthens connections to transit, neighborhood services, and public spaces while integrating architecture, engineering, landscape, and sustainability strategies to optimize resilience, accessibility, and energy performance.
Wellbeing is central to the design, with healthy living environments shaped by natural daylight, indoor air quality, thermal comfort, universal accessibility, and community-focused amenities. Shared gathering spaces, children’s play area, outdoor terraces, and secure residential environments foster social interaction, inclusion, and long-term resident stability.
The site is served by bus stops on all three sides and is located within a mile of the Fort Totten Metro station, providing convenient access to employment and services throughout the region. One Hawaii reimagines affordable housing as a vibrant and supportive community environment.
