The Shelton is the first major multi-family project approved under the Nauck Village Action Plan, a form-based code, and provides 94 affordable housing units with market-rate design character. This U-shaped building surrounds a large, inviting landscaped courtyard – a safe haven in an emerging neighborhood – the courtyard sits above 108 underground parking spaces and a corner store. The Shelton’s street facade is designed with rhythmic masonry bays, setbacks, balconies, trellises and metal awnings to modulate the building’s scale within the neighborhood. Fully leased within four months, the four-story building has attracted a wide range of residents, including families and seniors.
