Licensure and Accreditation at Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS

Throughout one’s career, achievement of professional milestones are important moments of celebration and reflection. These achievements demonstrate commitment to the future to inspire, engage, and strengthen the design profession and Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS. In recent months, we are proud to have recognized pivotal accomplishments for several team members including architectural licensure and sustainability standards accreditation! We also continue to expand licensure in other states. Please join us in congratulating Jack Waterman, Jae Hong Ahn, Sumayia Samad and Bill Bonstra, FAIA.

NEW REGISTERED ARCHITECTS

JACK WATERMAN, AIA

Jack received his architecture license this summer after completing the National Council of Architectural Review Board Architectural Experience Program (AXP) and the Architect Registration Exam (ARE). With over 10 years of experience in historic preservation and urban design, Jack has contributed to our success since joining our team in May. In his previous work, he had the opportunity to design a museum in a historic bank next to the White House and present an urban plan for a neighborhood above the tracks behind Union Station.

JAE HONG AHN, AIA

Jae became a licensed architect after passing his Architecture Registration Exam (ARE) in June. With over 4 years of experience including working on single-family residential renovations, single-family residential new constructions, vacant manufacturing building rehabilitations into commercial occupancies, and an automobile dealership/service center renovation – Jae has brought well-thought and refreshing designs to Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS. In the future, he hopes to be a professor or mentor college students.

LEED GA

Sumayia Samad, Assoc. AIA, LEED GA

After Sumayia joined Bonstra | Haresign ARCHITECTS in 2020, she became an active participant in achieving social and environmental sustainability through context-based architecture and urban design. She now takes a huge step closer to this goal after achieving her LEED GA credentials in July. LEED Green Associates have a demonstrated knowledge of green building practices and standards related to the design, construction, usage and maintenance of buildings. Sumayia is also a member of AIA DC’s Urban Design Committee and other women-empowerment platforms.

LICENSED IN NEW YORK

Bill Bonstra, FAIA, LEED AP

Bill Bonstra, FAIA, LEED AP has added a New York state licensure to his current list including registration in DC, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania. For years, Bill has contributed to the enhancement of communities within the DMV and parts of Pennsylvania. We are excited with the expansion of his practice footprint to New York state for his current project, The Manhattan Times Square Hotel.
