CAROLINA GELVIS LOPEZ

From: Bogotá, Colombia

Carolina brings over 12 years of experience specializing in multifamily buildings in both the United States and Colombia. In her previous experience, Carolina had the opportunity to be part of a downtown office conversion in Washington, DC, the first project of its kind in the Golden Triangle neighborhood. She values utilizing an empathetic approach to teamwork, with a belief that good team communication can strengthen any architectural project.

Lara is driven by a passion for design. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work on various residential and commercial projects, with involvement in all stages of the design process from conceptualization to construction administration. Lara seeks opportunities to collaborate with local communities as she is actively involved with the American Institute of Architects, having previously served as the chair for Young Architects Forum. Lara strives to promote the profession and the importance of design in shaping vibrant and resilient communities.

HOPE HALVEY

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

From: Orlando, Florida

Hope is a recent graduate from Notre Dame. During her studies, Hope was an active member of her community, with a role as the assistant for the Director of Construction at the University of Notre Dame. She also served as the manager and editor at Stoa Magazine, Notre Dame’s School of Architecture scholarly magazine. Hope’s previous experience includes assisting in the research and design of multi-family residential buildings and affordable housing projects.

MARKETING COORDINATOR

From: Arlington, Virginia

Thalia comes from a fine art and illustration background to join our marketing team. Her education encapsulated a variety of disciplines, from ceramics to fiber arts, while also earning a Minor in History. Thalia has focused on digital design throughout her career, integrating thoughtful artistry into memorable marketing materials. In her previous experience at a media production network, Thalia developed marketing and merchandise campaigns targeted to an audience of millions of viewers. Her work is rooted in a belief in collaboration with artistic instincts as a compass.

JORDAN HANSEN

Jordan is a skilled project manager and executive assistant with experience ranging from entrepreneurship to high-level administrative support. She values innovative, outside-the-box resolutions and her leadership roles have instilled a passion for engaging with team members with respect and encouragement. She is currently pursuing an MBA in Project Management from Southern New Hampshire University. Outside of the office, Jordan loves wandering around the monuments in DC and finding exciting new places to visit.

From: Raleigh, North Carolina

Olivia is a 5th year thesis candidate at Virginia Tech’s WAAC. After attending 4 years at the Blacksburg campus, Olivia came to WAAC as a FAAB scholar to write her thesis on reimagining highway interchange infrastructure, with a focus on DC’s K Street bridge interchange over Rock Creek Park. Olivia has a passion for sustainability, even beyond architecture, as she ran a successful upcycled clothing business during the COVID-19 lockdown.

ARCHITECTURAL INTERN

From: Chantilly, Virginia

Barnabas is currently finishing his 5th year at the WAAC and is a student from Blacksburg. Aside from trying to obtain his B.ARCH he has obtained a minor in landscape architecture. He has previous experience in a commercial real estate firm, as well as 3 AEC related firms all within the DC area. Aside from work, he enjoys weightlifting, sketching, photography, and playing with his dog, Noodles.

Caroline is a first year graduate student pursuing a M.ARCH at the University of Virginia. With a background in art history and gallery work, Caroline brings a unique perspective and committed attitude to a team environment. Outside of architecture, Caroline enjoys reading and spending time with her dog, Pippa.

BLAKE ARRENDELL

B.S.ARCH (Expected 2025) | University of Virginia
From: McLean, Virginia

Blake is a rising 4th year Architecture student at the University of Virginia. He is President of the UVA chapter of NOMAS, and a student representative at the UVA School of Architecture Student Council. During his studies, Blake has traveled abroad to Italy in the summer of 2023 and is pursuing minors in Sociology and Architecture History.
